Full English breakfast
and more
Breakfast includes the traditional full English cooked menu, but does not stop there. Fresh fruit salad, Swiss-style muesli, yoghurt and buttermilk pancakes are only some of the highlights of our breakfast buffet.
Nothing is precooked or reheated: all orders from our extensive breakfast menu are made fresh to order.
Many items are home-made: When guests join us for breakfast, Wolfgang will already have prepared his original Swiss Bircher Muesli from oats, grated apples, nuts, berries and organic yoghurt (you may even persuade him to let you have his own recipe). And Josephine makes a wonderful fruit salad every morning.
The batter for the buttermilk pancakes is made fresh daily, our potato cakes are prepared by Wolfgang from fresh potatoes, and we even make our specialty blueberry yoghurt ourselves. You can also choose from at least two types of home-baked bread every morning, besides the usual offering of commercially available breads.
We try to offer organic and/or locally sourced products wherever possible for foods we do not make ourselves.
We also give you more time for your breakfast than most B&Bs: 8 – 9.30 during the week and 8.30 – 10 at weekends. If you need to get away earlier, just tell us. We also prepare breakfasts at 6 o'clock in the morning if necessary and will make sure you do not have to go away hungry.
And do not worry: at Athole House you will not be required to make up your mind in the evening when you want your breakfast or what you want for your breakfast the next morning. You are on holiday, after all. So eat as much as you like to set you up for the day and enjoy.
